The Falklands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula are usually sold separately, and separately each is a fine trip. Together they are a different thing: twenty days that move from tussock islands and rockhopper colonies, through the drowned mountain range of South Georgia, to five days working the ice of the Peninsula.
The route gives each region real time rather than a token call. Two days in the Falklands, three in South Georgia, five in Antarctica, and the ocean crossings that join them treated as part of the voyage: albatross off the stern, briefings, and the sea getting colder.
You begin with a night in Buenos Aires, then fly to Ushuaia to join Scenic Eclipse for eighteen nights. Every suite has a verandah and butler service, and a Discovery Team of polar specialists runs the programme ashore.
Scenic operates the voyage; Waypoint Journeys arranges the booking. It follows Scenic’s 20-day departure of 28 November 2028. This is a shared expedition cruise carrying up to 200 guests, and the Captain and Discovery Leader adapt the route to the ice, the weather and what the permits allow.

Three Regions, Not a Sampler
Most Antarctic voyages pick one. This one gives each region the days it needs: two in the Falklands, three in South Georgia and five in Antarctica, with the crossings that join them treated as part of the trip rather than dead time.
South Georgia, Properly
Three full days at the island Shackleton walked across: king penguin colonies running to the horizon, elephant seals on the beaches, glaciers coming off a drowned mountain range, and Grytviken with its whaling sheds and its one famous grave.
Five Days in the Ice
Five Antarctic days is enough for the weather to turn and turn back, which is what you want. Landings, Zodiac cruising and the route itself are chosen each morning around ice, wind and where the wildlife is.
The Weddell Sea and Snow Hill
The route carries Weddell Sea possibilities, and on one Antarctic day an optional helicopter excursion to Snow Hill Island may be offered, with a walk of roughly 1.5 kilometres to an emperor penguin colony. It costs extra and is never guaranteed.
A Ship Built for This Water
Scenic Eclipse carries up to 200 guests with a Discovery Team aboard, Zodiacs, and kayaking and paddleboarding when conditions allow. Optional helicopter and submersible experiences are available on some departures, at extra cost and subject to approval.
A Verandah and a Butler
Every suite has a verandah and butler service. Dining, beverages and the in-suite minibar are included, as are lectures, Wi-Fi, the wellness facilities and tipping on board and ashore. You keep the expedition parka; the polar boots are loaned.

Scenic Eclipse
Scenic calls it a discovery yacht rather than a cruise ship, and the specification backs the distinction: 168 metres and 17,545 gross tonnes, built to Polar Class 6, launched in 2019 and refreshed in 2021 and 2024. She carries 228 guests, capped at 200 in Antarctica, across 114 suites, with a guest-to-crew ratio close to one to one.
Every suite has a verandah and personalised butler service; the advertised fare here is a Category A suite on Deck 7. Dining runs to up to ten culinary experiences, from casual to fine dining, and is included along with beverages and the in-suite minibar, with Scenic’s usual exceptions for rare and vintage selections.
The expedition kit is the point of the ship, and so is the Discovery Team: up to twenty polar experts aboard. Zodiacs go out whenever conditions allow, with kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and guided hikes offered by location. Two helicopters and a submersible are aboard at extra cost, subject to regulatory approval, availability, weight restrictions, medical approval and the weather, tide and ice. Helicopters do not operate in South Georgia.
Between outings there are lectures, the wellness facilities, Wi-Fi and the observation decks. Tipping on board and ashore is included, as is an expedition parka and refillable bottle to keep; polar boots are loaned for the voyage.
