Go far. Come home.
Our expeditions run where the nearest good hospital can be a day away. Every Waypoint traveler carries field rescue and medical evacuation cover, and we arrange it through Global Rescue, the team we trust with our own trips.

Remote is the whole point. It is also the risk.
A twisted ankle in a city is an inconvenience. The same injury in the Wakhan, the Sahara or the Mundari cattle camps is a logistics problem that starts with a satellite call and ends with a chartered aircraft. Travel protection is how that problem gets solved by professionals instead of improvised by us at 2 a.m.
Field rescue from the point of injury
Not from the nearest airport. Global Rescue coordinates transport from wherever you are, by road, helicopter or aircraft, to the nearest facility that can actually treat you.
Medical evacuation home
If you are hospitalized, membership covers transport to your home hospital of choice, not just the closest one that will admit you.
Advisory before anything goes wrong
Operations staff, in-house medical teams and destination intelligence reachable around the clock. Lost prescription, language barrier, a symptom you are unsure about: one call.
Membership covers you. Insurance covers the trip.
They are different products and most of our travelers carry both. The Global Rescue page lets you buy either, or both together, and attributes the purchase to Waypoint Journeys.
Global Rescue membership
A membership, not an insurance policy. Global Rescue performs the rescue and evacuation itself with its own operations and medical teams.
- Field rescue and medical evacuation worldwide
- 24/7 medical and travel advisory
- Destination reports and event alerts
- Short-term or annual, single traveler or family
- Optional security evacuation and high-altitude packages
Prices are set and published by Global Rescue. A price estimator is on their page.
Signature Travel Insurance
Underwritten by IMG and offered through Global Rescue, this protects the money you have put into the trip and the medical bills a trip can generate.
- Trip cancellation and interruption
- Travel medical expenses
- Lost or damaged luggage
- Missed connections and change fees
- Cancel For Any Reason, where available by home state
Insurance benefits, exclusions and availability depend on your plan and home location. Read the policy before you buy.
Three steps, ten minutes.
Confirm your expedition
Once your deposit is in and dates are fixed, you know your travel window. Membership and insurance are priced around it.
Enroll through our page
Use the Waypoint Journeys page at Global Rescue. You buy directly from them, at their published prices, and the enrollment is linked to us so we can support you if something happens.
Send us your member ID
Email it to info@wpjourneys.com or reply to your booking thread. We keep it on your file so your guide and our team can act immediately in an emergency.
Read the fine print before the trek, not after.
High altitude. Standard membership does not include evacuation from above 15,000 feet (4,600 meters). If your itinerary crosses that line at any point, Pakistan and Nepal treks included, add the High-Altitude Evacuation package when you enroll.
Security evacuation. An optional add-on that covers extraction in the event of civil unrest, natural disaster or a government-ordered departure. We recommend it for several of our destinations and will tell you which.
Where it does not reach. Global Rescue services are not available in U.S. State Department designated war zones, nor above the 80th parallel north or below the 60th parallel south. Ask us before booking if your trip touches either.
Timing. A membership is not active until Global Rescue has received your details and full payment. Enroll well before departure, not the night before.
Straight answers
Is a Global Rescue membership the same as travel insurance?
No. Membership is a service: Global Rescue physically rescues and evacuates you. Travel insurance reimburses money, such as a cancelled trip or a hospital bill. Most of our travelers carry both, and the Global Rescue page lets you add insurance in the same checkout.
Do I need this if my credit card includes travel insurance?
Card benefits usually cover trip cost and sometimes medical treatment. Very few will stage a helicopter out of a valley with no road. Read your card's evacuation clause carefully, then compare it with what a membership does.
Does it work in countries under travel advisories?
Membership benefits are not restricted by activity, nationality or destination, with the exception of State Department designated war zones and the polar limits above. Several of our destinations are under advisories and members have been served there. Insurance policies have their own rules, so check the specific plan.
How do I reach Global Rescue in an emergency?
Their operations center answers at +1 (617) 459-4200, collect calls accepted, around the clock. Save it in your phone and give it to a family member. Where there is no signal, your Waypoint guide carries a satellite communicator and we will make the call with you.
Why buy through your page instead of directly?
The plans and prices are identical. Buying through the Waypoint Journeys page links your membership to us, which means our team can coordinate with Global Rescue on your behalf during a trip. Global Rescue also pays us a referral commission, which we disclose below.
Can Waypoint Journeys help me pick a plan?
Yes. Tell us your dates, the destination and whether the itinerary goes high, and we will tell you which membership length and add-ons make sense. We are not insurance advisers, so for policy wording and claims questions Global Rescue's member services team is the right call.
Ten minutes now. Peace of mind for the whole route.
